So first trip and something I’ve wanted to do for quite a while, Iceland Ring Road. As an amature astrophotographer the northern lights and long nights are something that I can appreciate (also I am quite the night owl). Iceland is known for their breathtaking landscapes and I want to see them all!
But lets be practical (something I try to do), we have 11 days in Iceland and it is still winter there (Winter runs early November to late March). Since it is still winter, driving the interior is impossible. The snow and ice make it impassible apparently. We plan to stay along the exterior of the island for this reason. As a Canadian I have experience in driving in Canadian winter storms, I am actually excited to see what an Icelandic winter storm is like. We’ve taken our safety into account by renting a 4×4, bringing emergency supplies and I am planning to get a Icelandic sim card. We’ve read up quite a bit on Iceland using Lonely Planet Iceland and guidetoiceland.is. Hopefully all goes to plan but I am ready for the unexpected to happen. That’s what makes this all fun.
The following map shows our proposed route and hotels along the way. I am excited to see what Iceland has to offer from the southern volcanoes and glaciers all the way to the northern fishing villages and westfjords. This is an adventure I hope to share with you all and hopefully get some amazing pictures.

PS. Blue Lagoon is on the radar most likely on day one 😛
